Solar Outlaws

Fast-paced space combat with a compelling rogue crew narrative. Loadout experimentation keeps missions exciting and varied.

Flight handling is the highlight. Ships have real weight and momentum, and cutting your engines to drift through a turn while keeping your guns on target never stops being satisfying. The loadout system is where the game opens up: weapons, hull modules, and crew abilities interact in ways the game does not spell out, and stumbling onto a combination that completely changes how you approach a mission is a regular occurrence. Two runs with the same ship class can play nothing alike. Between sorties, the rogue crew argues, negotiates, and occasionally walks out—and those conversations feed directly back into which abilities are available to you.

Characters are written with enough humour to stay likeable and enough friction to stay interesting, and losing someone you had built your loadout around genuinely stings. Mission variety thins out somewhat in the final act, and the difficulty curve spikes sharply just before the last set of encounters, but neither undercuts the whole. Strong recommendation for anyone who wants their space combat with a bit of personality attached—and who enjoys tinkering with builds until a run finally clicks.
